Council and local government requirements
(Eastern States only)
Queensland
- The
GreytoGreen
system has been accepted by the Queensland
Government and is listed on many local council web sites. Many councils
require a pre-installation application. Others require post installation
notification to either council or water authority. Brisbane City Council
requires an application to install any type of greywater diversion
system and subsequent to installation, the site is inspected by a
licensed council authority.
New
South Wales - No applications, permits or approvals are required for
installation of a WaterMark certified greywater diversion system.
Non-certified systems require council approval prior to installation. Guidelines covering greywater diversion (and greywater treatment) were
published by the State Government in 2006. Ensure you are aware of
local regulations as penalties can be severe.
Greywater Guidelines stipulate diversion systems must have a Watermark
or Plumbing Safety license and irrigation must be sub-surface.
BASIX
Compliance - The
GreytoGreen
system is compliant with NSW BASIX guidelines which stipulate diversion
systems must have a Watermark license and irrigation must be sub-surface. .
ACT. Greywater
installation guidelines must be adhered to in the ACT.
Victoria
- Greywater diversion is generally approved throughout Victoria but some
homeowners in non-sewered areas should contact local councils before
committing.
For
information on any of the above, email us at
greytogreen@hotmail.com (use this
link). It is important to include contact details and the name (and state) of your
council.
IMPORTANT: It is imperative State and/or Local
Government guidelines and policies are followed prior to and subsequent to installation of
any type of greywater diversion device. Failure to observe can result in penalties.
